Security Seal Barcode Assets Tag

Protect against theft with tamper-evident destructible labels including bar codes or serialized numbers for Property ID and tracking of critical assets.

Destructible Vinyl Asset Tags are virtually impossible to remove in one single piece. The break up asset tags end up in tiny pieces if removal is attempted, deterring theft. These Asset Tags are meant for indoor assets when security is required. This material will fracture when tampered with and has moderate resistance to heat, scrapes and even from chemicals.

Tamper-Evident Polyester Asset Tags work well on indoor and outdoor assets when it's necessary to identify if a property ID tag has been tampered with. If removed from the face of tracked assets, a promminent "Void" imprint is left on the property surface. The laminated layer which protects the image from scuffing and mild chemicals, if scratched off or removed, leaves bright letters in the surface spelling out "VOID" on your equipment to prevent tampering and protect against unauthorized transfer or loss.

Costs to Consider in Asset Tags Application

Implementing asset tracking with asset tags involves more than the simple purchase of barcode labels and assigning the maintenance department to apply them to property.

Expenses for application of property ID tags can be underestimated without advance planning. The headline above links to our tutorial illustrating one possible scenario for application of 10,000 asset tags to varied assets and equipment across the enterprise.

The durable MetalPhoto® bar code tags themselves are estimated at $3,000 for this application, but the total cost of implementation comes to $24,000 when the following are taken into consideration:

  • Staff training for application
  • Software upgrade, installation and training
  • Bar code readers with PDA's
  • Cross referencing old asset tag numbers & data entry
  • Staff surface prep and application time

Long lasting adherance of the labels to property may be the most important of details, since asset tags which become detached from property before the end of that item's useful life can increase costs further. This makes application prep and training one of the most critical of the implementation steps outlined. We also offer an application preparation tutorial here.

Special Asset Tags Adhesive & Application Prep

Do you have specific asset label environment or surface preparation challenges? Standard adhesives work well for most situations, but there are special adhesives available for unique or unusual uses. We'll be sure to provide proper adhesive for every possible unique surface need and that your asset tags order will serve your specific application.

Special adhesives are available which are suitable for slick or smooth surfaces, very hot environments and for extremely cold applications. For most property ID appications there are a few recommendations to assure proper adhesion.

  • Fingerprints or other contaminants reduce the adhesion of the asset label, so protect the surface after removal of backing and prior to application.
  • Do not to apply asset tags in high traffic or dusty areas.
  • Thoroughly clean dirty or greasy surfaces before applying asset labels.
  • Pressing labels firmly into place and using a roller will make certain that the label adhesive bonds fully with the application surface.
  • Always apply asset tags to property at temperatures above 50°.
  • Be sure that the adhesive has time to cure before testing or subjecting asset tags to use and on the job wear.
  • The adhesive qualities increase dramatically a full 72 hours after application.

Asset Tags in Three Standard Sizes Available

Camcode has three Asset Label Standard Sizes.
  1. 1.5"wide x 0.75" high
  2. 2.0" wide x 0.75" high
  3. 2" wide x 1" high
One and one-half inch by one inch size asset tags are most frequently used for movable assets. Two inches wide by three quarter inch high asset labels accommodate logos or longer captions or large type size headlines. The two inch wide by one inch high asset tags are placed on fixed assets & immobile equipment. Those larger tags are easily readable from greater distances.

  • Large size 2" wide x 1" high asset labels are used on large equipment, known as "Fixed Assets". For asset tags used in outdoor areas exposed to sunlight and temperature extremes, you may consider Metalphoto® tags aluminum asset tags which can withstand weather extremes for years.

  • Medium sized 2.0" wide x 0.75 asset labels can accommodate a logo, added on the edge of labels beside the barcodes on property ID asset tags. Logos eliminate any possible confusion of ownership by making assets instantly idnetifiable as company property. Submit your artwork with your order to have your company logo printed on your asset tags.

  • Small 1.5"wide x 0.75" high asset tags are used on small movable assets like cell phones, PDA's, laptops, tools and high value portable items. Placement of smaller asset tags is usually on the back, sides or on the bottom of valuable portable equipment, often place next to manufacturers ID or barcode tags. Small security labels have "Tamper Evident" features which show visible signs that the label has been tampered with, and eleminate the possibility of transfering the label to other assets.

Custom asset tag sizes are available by request. Create, view and print your own standard sized asset tags online at asset label preview page.
