Tactical UID Label Zero Reflection Design, Easy Readability

Tactical UID Label Delivers Zero Reflection Design With Easy Readability

Low Contrast design UID labels available with zero reflection design for tactical use on DoD property.

Cleveland, OH (PRWEB) October 20, 2009 -- The Camcode Division of Horizons Incorporated has introduced a new Tactical UID Label with a zero reflection/detection design that is suitable for labeling sensitive tactical items and complies with DoD requirements for unique item identification (UID).

"Bar code labels traditionally require a high-contrast design so they may be easily read by bar code scanning equipment," said Randy Uveges, Camcode's UID Product Manager. "A high-contrast label is at odds with the objectives of vehicles and weapons systems designed for low visibility in tactical environments. Our new Tactical UID Labels are low-contrast and blend in with the marked item yet read as easily as a high-contrast tag."

That depth of experience has enabled us to help military contractors attain hassle-free compliance with MIL-STD-130, which requires them to affix UID labels to all DoD equipment that is valued over $5,000, serially managed or mission-critical. Available in desert tan or army green, this Tactical UID Label is constructed of Camcode's Metalphoto® anodized aluminum, which can withstand exposure to chemicals, abrasion, solvents and even the harshest outdoor conditions like extreme cold, heat and UV exposure. Three attachment options - high-performance 3M application adhesives, CARC adhesive or holes for mechanical fastening - ensure the label will stay intact under even the most demanding conditions.

"Our history of supplying labels to military markets dates back 55 years, to when our dataplates were first used on U.S. Navy vessels," said Uveges. "That depth of experience has enabled us to help military contractors attain hassle-free compliance with MIL-STD-130, which requires them to affix UID labels to all DoD equipment that is valued over $5,000, serially managed or mission-critical."

Founded in 1979, Camcode is a recognized worldwide leader in the design and manufacture of durable pre-print bar code labels for asset tracking and unique identification (UID) applications. Camcode's asset tags improve the efficiency of asset tracking systems by eliminating errors caused during manual data collection and increasing data acquisition speed. Camcode's Metalphoto® anodized aluminum bar code labels, premium plastic label constructions, and proprietary coating technologies satisfy the most demanding applications.

Asset Tags with New Sandshield Bar Code Labels Offer Extreme Sand Abrasion Resistance

Withstanding abrasion from outdoor blowing sand or indoor media blast chambers is now possible with asset tags featuring strong and clear plastic coating materials.

Cleveland, Ohio (PRWEB) August 6, 2009 -- With the new SandShield Label introduced this month, the Camcode Division of Horizons Incorporated now offers the solution to protect critical barcode labels from extreme sand and gravel abrasion.

The combination of SandShield's .008" thick abrasion-repellent plastic coating and Camcode's Metalphoto® anodized aluminum bar code label makes these labels ideal for even the toughest blowing-sand environments, both outdoors and in media blast chambers using silica, glass beads or even steel pellets.

The combination of our SandShield and Metalphoto technologies offers our customers a one-of-a-kind labeling solution that can withstand extreme abrasion, UV exposure, common chemicals and temperatures. "The typical barcode label doesn't stand a chance in media blast chambers commonly used for cleaning parts. Anodized aluminum, polyester, even steel labels are quickly abraded and rendered illegible," said Randy Uveges, Camcode's UID Product Manager. "The combination of our SandShield and Metalphoto technologies offers our customers a one-of-a-kind labeling solution that can withstand extreme abrasion, UV exposure, common chemicals and temperatures."

The SandShield Label is suitable for adhesion to such materials as glass, acrylic, stainless steel, and even tough CARC paint in applications like vehicles, weapons, and support equipment. Because it is designed as a plastic lens applied over the barcode label, there's no need for an added step in application or drying time, as with sprays or liquid coatings. SandShield Labels are designed to be installed using mechanical attachment or pressure-sensitive adhesive.

Camcode Introduces UID Label Installation Service

IUID Installation services intended to simplify and streamline the sometimes difficult tasks of UID asset tag installation have been introduced to reduce asset marking time and labor.

Cleveland, OH (PRWEB) September 3, 2009 -- As part of its comprehensive effort to simplify the IUID labeling process, the Camcode Division of Horizons Incorporated has launched the Mobile Asset Tagging Solution, a scalable IUID label installation service that reduces asset marking time by up to 80 percent.

"It's easy to underestimate how time- and labor-intensive the IUID labeling process can be, not to mention how difficult it is to accurately match each label to the appropriate asset," said Randy Uveges, Camcode's UID Product Manager. "We've created a system that is effective, accurate and significantly faster than the way installations have traditionally been carried out."

Camcode's Mobile Asset Tagging Solution electronically pairs each label to its matching asset - including keeping track of who labeled each and when - to virtually eliminate errors. In addition, quick and accurate labeling results in significant reductions in labor costs. Since the solution is scalable, it's appropriate for 2,000 assets all located in the same room or 100,000 assets in four different states, even if the exact asset locations are not known in advance.

"We understand how complex compliance with IUID regulations can be, especially for those customers required to label thousands of legacy assets in multiple locations," said Uveges. "By adding our Mobile Asset Tagging Solution to our other IUID services, such as label production and IUID registration, we help DoD suppliers spend less time on IUID requirements and more time running their businesses."

Camcode's line of IUID labels are already widely used on such defense equipment as vehicles, weapon systems, electronics, support equipment and more.

IUID Registration Service Announced by Camcode

UID Label installation and registration with Department of Defense IUID registry are now offered by Camcode for Government vendors of vehicles, weapons and support equipment.

Cleveland, OH (PRWEB) July 14, 2009 -- The Camcode Division of Horizons Incorporated has launched a new IUID registration service that will allow DoD suppliers to both procure UID labels and complete IUID registration requirements from a single provider. "Camcode coined the phrase 'We make UID Easy!', and then we added 'We make IUID Label Installation Easy!', and now we are happy to say 'We make IUID Registration Easy!'," offers Randy Uveges, Camcode's UID Product Manager. "As the most experienced UID durable label provider in the industry, we know that our customers just want to comply with UID requirements in a convenient, fast, economical way. Getting all their UID needs from a single source saves time and money and using a vendor familiar with all your needs makes the process, well... Easy!"

Camcode's new service registers both physical and virtual IUIDs in the Department of Defense IUID Registry for new, legacy and GFP assets. At the completion of the registration service, Camcode provides emailed documentation confirming the proper registration of each item.

This allows total compatibility to the Prime's environment when registering component items manufactured for them. "Offering such a registration service is just one more step in minimizing the effort our customers must apply to meet the IUID compliance requirements," said Uveges. "Considering the costs and technical expertise needed to manage IUID registrations in-house, we believe our new service will enable companies to use their staffs more effectively and reduce the frustration often associated with this aspect of IUID compliance, especially for those businesses that may not be producing large quantities of end item deliverables, who have minimal legacy assets, or those having only limited quantities of GFP in their custody."

Camcode's new service can also help subcontractors who receive IUID flow-down requirements from their customers. "We are using the same software and process that eight of the top ten prime defense contractors use," said Uveges. "This allows total compatibility to the Prime's environment when registering component items manufactured for them."

Camcode's line of high performance IUID labels are already widely used on such defense equipment as vehicles, weapons, electronics, support equipment and more. Camcode has also installed 1000's of IUID labels on DoD assets making Camcode one of the only resources for labels, installation services and registration and turnkey support.
