UID Summit: Camcode Announces Sponsorship

Camcode is proud to be a sponsor of the upcoming UID Summit. The UID Summit is the only dedicated opportunity for European defence officials and defence industry suppliers to come together to discuss Unique Identification (UID), specifically as it is called out in STANAG 2290 edition 2 (pending ratification this November) and in the US DoD Mil-STD-130. The Summit will focus on opportunities for improvements in asset management, item visibility, UID compliance, implementation tactics, and efforts to tie UID to RFID for complete in-transit visibility.

What is UID?
Unique Identification is a methodology for marking and registering end items to facilitate asset management, multi-national logistics, and global supply chain capabilities through automatic data capture at key lifecycle events.
Why attend?

UID helps governments run on tighter budgets by reconciling what they are paying for with what they actually receive.
UID helps drive overall efficiencies by eliminating manual data entry, aiding configuration control for complex assets and simplifying systems integrations with globally unique asset IDs.

UID has been gaining momentum in policy mandates globally and will affect all defence suppliers, military organizations, and governments. Understanding the aspects of UID will help in adoption of UID as it affects your processes.
Who should attend?

MoD personnel interested in learning about UID requirements and how they can be leveraged to improve asset visibility.
Government personnel that need to understand policy flow-down language, a country-specific UID Registry, marking techniques, policy enforcement, and future impacts.

Defence contractors who wish to improve their asset management and need to comply with NATO and DoD requirements for asset marking and data administration. US DoD personnel in Europe who are implementing UID for their legacy assets and need to understand how to move forward with their UID initiatives.

Know someone who would be interested?
Please forward this post to your colleagues and contacts in Europe!

Asset Tags with New Sandshield Bar Code Labels Offer Extreme Sand Abrasion Resistance

Withstanding abrasion from outdoor blowing sand or indoor media blast chambers is now possible with asset tags featuring strong and clear plastic coating materials.

Cleveland, Ohio (PRWEB) August 6, 2009 -- With the new SandShield Label introduced this month, the Camcode Division of Horizons Incorporated now offers the solution to protect critical barcode labels from extreme sand and gravel abrasion.

The combination of SandShield's .008" thick abrasion-repellent plastic coating and Camcode's Metalphoto® anodized aluminum bar code label makes these labels ideal for even the toughest blowing-sand environments, both outdoors and in media blast chambers using silica, glass beads or even steel pellets.

The combination of our SandShield and Metalphoto technologies offers our customers a one-of-a-kind labeling solution that can withstand extreme abrasion, UV exposure, common chemicals and temperatures. "The typical barcode label doesn't stand a chance in media blast chambers commonly used for cleaning parts. Anodized aluminum, polyester, even steel labels are quickly abraded and rendered illegible," said Randy Uveges, Camcode's UID Product Manager. "The combination of our SandShield and Metalphoto technologies offers our customers a one-of-a-kind labeling solution that can withstand extreme abrasion, UV exposure, common chemicals and temperatures."

The SandShield Label is suitable for adhesion to such materials as glass, acrylic, stainless steel, and even tough CARC paint in applications like vehicles, weapons, and support equipment. Because it is designed as a plastic lens applied over the barcode label, there's no need for an added step in application or drying time, as with sprays or liquid coatings. SandShield Labels are designed to be installed using mechanical attachment or pressure-sensitive adhesive.

Founded in 1979, Camcode is a recognized worldwide leader in the design and manufacture of durable pre-print bar code labels for asset tracking and unique identification (UID) applications. Camcode's asset tags improve the efficiency of asset tracking systems by eliminating errors caused during manual data collection and increasing data acquisition speed. Camcode's Metalphoto® anodized aluminum bar code labels, premium plastic label constructions, and proprietary coating technologies satisfy the most demanding applications. Meet IUID standards on Government Furnished Property

Whether you are reporting for facility management, complying with IUID standards for Government Furnished Property, or simply looking for labels to tag equipment and furniture, Camcode's durable asset labels will help identify, control and track your valuable assets for the life of the part.

We offer durable aluminum and polyester bar code labels; and security labels, including destructible vinyl. Our standard services include maintaining data integrity, full verification, validation and documentation, as well as reviewing specifications and drawings for compliance. It doesn't get any easier!

Foil Asset Labels

Our most durable and popular tag. Made of anodized aluminum, the graphics are sealed beneath the anodized layer creating a remarkably durable asset tag. Combined with our super strong adhesive, these tags will last for the life of your assets.

Premium Polyester Asset Labels

Second only to Foil in durability and popularity. Our polyester bar code labels have a protective overlaminate to shield against chemicals and abrasion. Permanent pressure-sensitive adhesive provides lifetime adherence.

Destructible Vinyl Asset Tags

Virtually impossible to remove in one piece. The destructible label breaks into tiny pieces if removed, discouraging unauthorized asset transfers.

Tamper-Evident Labels

If the label is removed, the word "VOID" is left behind on the surface of your asset and the back of the label to prevent tampering and protect against unauthorized transfer. Tamper-evident polyester labels are also available with color.
